Recommended steps to consider before reserving a private property for your event:
1. Establish a budget.
It is recommended not to spend more than 20-25% of your overall budget on the property, as you will need to account for expenses related to catering, floral arrangements, decor, possible bathrooms, lighting, rentals, and transportation, all of which must be accommodated on-site.
2. Determine your guest count – we advise using the higher estimate to ensure the property can comfortably accommodate your guests. We have properties that feature ballrooms and spacious great rooms suitable for dining.
3. Check the weather for your selected date or dates, especially if your event is in an area that is susceptible to adverse weather conditions. Southern California is known for its favorable climate, but we always recommend doing research on the weather for your date before finalizing the contract. Once you secure the venue, please ensure you have a weather contingency plan in place.
Note: We do not have properties outside of Southern CA, however, we recommend checking the dew point. Dew Points ranging 61-70+ can be quite uncomfortable for you and your guests on a hot day, even if the event is held indoors.
Being aware of the temperatures, etc. is beneficial. There is nothing worse than asking your guests to wear all black on an extremely hot day. Have plenty of water and ice for your guests to keep them hydrated.
4. What is your desired end time? Most residences have a curfew of 10 PM; however, some properties may provide more flexibility if they have indoor access or are located in secluded areas where neighbors will not be disturbed.
5. How will your guests be arriving? If you are open to various options, please let us know. However, if you have specific requirements such as valet service or car drop-off, please communicate this to our team so we can assist you in locating venues that meet your preferences.
